Elizabeth McLean Macy holds her Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from UCLA. Her work examines the function of music tourism in post-disaster economies; in particular, it focuses on the function of music tourism in the recovery and rebuilding of post-Katrina New Orleans and in Bali after the 2002 and 2005 terrorist bombings. To date, her research has resulted in several conference papers and invited lectures. She has previously taught at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she taught courses on world music, non-Western music theory, and the art and culture of Bali, on location in Bali, Indonesia. Currently, she resides in Los Angeles, teaching classes at UCLA, Chapman University, and California Institute of the Arts.
