Glen is a native of California, he studied at Calarts in the early '70s with Mia Slavenska, Donald McKale, and Bella Lewitsky, He toured nationally with Margalite Oved dance company, based in Los Angeles, and with Kathryn Posin dance company, New York City. He joined Netherlands Dance Theater in the 1977- 78 season under the new director, Jiri Kylian, and danced with the company for 12 and 1/2 years. He performed principle and soloist roles with the company, toured all over the world, and was involved in the creation of a dozen ballets with Kylian, including Symphony of Psalms, Stamping Ground, Soldatenmis, Svadebka, Sechs Tanza, Hearts labrynth, Soldiers Tale, Nomaden, La enfant e la Sortilege, Misa Glagolskaya, Symphony in "D", etc.. He also worked with many other choreographers including 6 works with NDT house choreographer William Forsythe, and dozens of created works by choreographers such as Mats Ek, Glen Tetley, Hans Van Manen, Nacho Duato, etc. He also danced in the repertoire of Christopher Bruce, Jerome Robbins, Benjamin Harkarvey, Jose Limon and others. He retired from NDT in 1990 and has taught many of the national dance companies of Europe as a guest ballet master including NDT, Scapino Ballet, Introdance, Rotterdam Dance Group, Connie Jansen, Christina De Chatel, and Djazzex, Holland, The Zurich, Geneva, and Luzern ballets, Switzerland, Ballet Hagen and Ballet Munich, Germany, Opera Ballet Lyon, France, the Gulbenkian Balllet, Portugal, the National Dance Company of Spain, Culberg Ballet, Sweden, Jan Faber, Belgium, Rambert Dance Company, Britain, Batsheva and Kibbutz Contemporary, Israel. He was ballet master from 1992 to 2000 at the Perry Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp, Steamboat Springs Colorado. Since 1998 he has taught for 2 years at the Arnhem Dance Academy and for 3 years at the Rotterdam Dance Academy, Holland, and been on the faculty at Calarts since 2004. He has created dances for students at Perry Mansfield, Monterey Peninsula College, Arnhem Dance Academy, Stevens College, and Calarts, Glen lives in South Pasadena, California, and The Hague, Holland with his wife, former NDT principle Fiona Lummis and their two sons.
