Kathy Carbone has a MLIS from Kent State University, an MA in Music and Dance, and a BFA in Dance, both from Ohio University. She is responsible for the collections and services for music, dance and theater and teaches the course, Methodologies for Music Research and Writing MD702, which investigates methodologies useful for graduate coursework, scholarly and creative research and professional writing in music. Carbone is the Founding Director of CalArts' sister library, the Interdisciplinary Genocide Studies Center Library in Kigali, Rwanda. Her library research and service interests are focused on human rights and social responsibility and collaborates with others to keep the free trans-border flow of information in the arts and genocide studies open to all.
Carbone is also a dancer, choreographer, improviser and teacher who for 15 years has been collaborating with musicians and dancers through research, improvisation and set material in theater and gallery based live performance events.
