Leslie Dick is the author of two novels — Without Falling (1987) and Kicking (1992) and a collection of short stories, The Skull of Charlotte Corday and Other Stories (1995). She was a Mellon Fellow in Arts Criticism at CalArts, before joining the regular faculty in Art in 1992. Her writing has appeared in numerous magazines, art catalogues, and anthologies. She wrote on photography in Real Allegories: Olivier Richon (Steidl, 2006) and she writes regularly for X-TRA, a quarterly journal of contemporary art, whose editorial board she joined in 2011. She collaborated with artist Martin Kersels on a video work entitled Ripcord (2008) which was shown at Acme, Los Angeles. In 2010, as part of Martin Kersels's Five Songs in the Whitney Biennial, she presented a 'multi-media performance' on Jacques Lacan's 'The Mirror Stage' at the Whitney Museum in New York. In 2012 she presented her work at the symposium 'On Perfection' at the Whitechapel Art Gallery, London, and at the Royal College of Art and Goldsmith's College, London.
