Peter Flaherty is a director and video artist whose work has shown in theaters, galleries and museums internationally. His award-winning short film, Signal From Shore, shot in South Korea, is currently playing in film festivals. His latest large-scale video installation, Pass Back a Revolver, premiered at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. His recent integrated-media directing project, Soul Leaves Her Body, opened at HERE Arts Center in New York last year. A new production of Parsifal, for which he created a massive, cinematic video projection, opened at the Opera de Lyon in March 2012 and will premiere at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in February 2013. On Broadway, he recently created the Video and Projection Design for the Roundabout Theatre’s Sondheim on Sondheim. Frequent theatre collaborators include: The Builders Association, Complicite, Francois Girard, James Lapine, Chen Shi-Zheng, Basil Twist, and Bang on a Can. His video art has been shown at: MIT Media Lab, Fleisher-Ollman Gallery, and the home of Agnes Gund (President Emerita of MOMA). He has received grants from The New York State Council on the Arts, Rockefeller MAP Fund, Doris Duke Foundation, and the Jerome Foundation, among others. He is currently the Head of Video for Performance at CalArts, and has taught in the past at the Yale School of Drama, Carnegie Mellon, and NYU.
