Michael Rossmy is an East Coast based Fight and Intimacy Director, thrilled to be joining the faculty of CalArts this year. He has been at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale for over fifteen years, where he is a Lecturer in Acting and Stage Management, Resident Fight and intimacy Director for the Drama School and REP, Lecturer in Acting for TAPS at Yale College, as well as a Fight and Intimacy Advisor for Undergraduate Productions. He is also the Stage Combat instructor at Quinnipiac University.
Michael’s movement direction has been featured both internationally and across the country. Highlights include A Tale of Two Cities on Broadway, productions at The Old Globe, The Geffen Theatre, Goodspeed Opera, SoHo REP, and Long Wharf, numerous shows at Yale REP, Westport Country Playhouse, Asolo REP, and the Public Theatre, including Suzan-Lori Parks’ White Noise and Troilus and Cressida, for which he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Fight Direction. Michael is also the creator and coach of the physical training program, “The Actor As Athlete.” Currently his Stunt Coordination can be seen in the short film Early Light.
