Yuanyuan Liang is a costume designer, fashion designer, illustrator, costume fabricator for stage, film and TV. Yuan’s designs have been seen in the largest and most popular TV Programs on Shanghai Oriental Television. She also designed costumes for Shanghai Kunju Opera Troupe, Shanghai Peking Opera Theatre, Shanghai Majestic Theater. She worked with numerous celebrities, TV hosts and legendary opera singers.
As character designer and concept designer, Yuan participated in Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Project.
As a costume designer, Yuan most recently designed the off-Broadway show: LOVE, MEDEA (The Center at West Park - NYC ),THE HUNTINGTON LIBRARY’S 100th GALA (The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens), NIGHTWALK IN THE CHINESE GARDEN (The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens), WITNESS THE YELLOW PERIL (Son of semele), SOFTER (Son of semele), BLACK LIKE ME (CalArts), THE SEAGULL (CalArts), GHOST (Hollywood Fringe Festival), MAN DOWN (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), etc. YUAN’s most recent film works include: GRANDMA DEAREST, RECKLESS, STEAM, HIDEAWAY, THE BEE, THE MONKEY KING, MISFITS, HOME, PAZ, STRINGS OF BUTTERFLIES, DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, WHITE DRESS, KINTSUGI, ARCADIA, etc.
As lead instructor, Yuanyuan Liang teaches costume design at California Institute of the Arts' CAP program.
Yuan holds a master of fine art degree in costume design and scenic design from California Institute of the Arts. She believes, "If it's easy, it's hardly worth doing."
