Toni Smith has been teaching Acting and Voice & Speech for over 10 years. In addition to her teaching and career as an actor, she currently works as a VO Director throughout the Los Angeles area directing video games, trailers, and TTS projects (*including those with High Profile Talent). *Her most recent video game VO directing credits are as an Additional Voice Director for Cyberpunk 2077, and Voice Director for a video game that remains under NDA until it’s release.
Prior to teaching at CalArts she has taught at her alma mater UCLA, AMDA, and Stephen F. Austin State University. She currently continues to coach actors in the
areas of Acting, Voice & Speech, and Accent & Dialect work.
Born with a passion for performance, Toni graduated with a BFA in Theatre from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts (CAP21 Studio – musical theatre conservatory), and later an MFA in Acting from UCLA's department of Theatre, Film and Television.
In 2014/ 2015 she toured North America in Blithe Spirit (*starring Angela Lansbury and directed by Michael Blakemore), as the Elvira/ Edith understudy. Other representative roles include: Elizabeth Benning (Ovation Nomination), Young Frankenstein; The Demon, Dorian’s Descent; Claudia Nardi (Eddon Award & StageSceneLA “Scenie” Award), Nine; Cathy (StageSceneLA “Best of” Award), The Last Five Years; Electra, Electra; Bobbi, Some Girls; The Young Wife, Hello Again; Helena, A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Catherine, Pippin; Meredith Parker (Austin Critic’s Table Nomination), Batboy: The Musical; Ninetta, The Green Bird.
Toni can also be seen (and heard) in various commercials and voiceovers for companies such as Panera, DirecTV, Disney Infinity, Apple, Facebook, ACT, Blue
Moon, Adam Ruins Everything (VO only), The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Rockstar Games, Cygames, Sony Interactive, and a few others she’s not allowed to
discuss at this time.
